The COOPERA Program for UAM Students

Coopera is a dual training program by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid aimed at university students, in which the student's training periods are divided between the company and the University. This allows them to enrich their education and facilitates their entry into the labor market. It is supported by the Círculo de Empresarios and the Fundación Universidad-Empresa (FUE).

It is aimed at students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (ADE) and the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) or other universities, who, in the third and fourth year of their studies, complement their academic education with paid internships.

Philosophy and Objectives of COOPERA

The Coopera program is a pioneer in university internships in companies. Launched in the late 1970s by the Círculo de Empresarios, the Fundación Universidad-Empresa (FUE), and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), COOPERA was the first university program in Spain to incorporate business internships into a university curriculum.

COOPERA's dual training model, combining academic periods between the university and the company, enriches the student’s education and promotes integration into the labor market.

Since its launch in 1985, more than one hundred companies from different sectors have participated in the program, hosting over 3,000 students.

The main objective of COOPERA is to bring students closer to the professional world, enriching their academic training at the university and developing the professional skills needed to facilitate their entry into the job market.

The success of COOPERA lies in four key pillars:

The involvement of partner companies and sponsoring entities.

The talent of the students.

The support of the UAM, particularly from the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies.

The commitment of the COOPERA working team.

COOPERA Methodology and Program

Accessing COOPERA allows students to simultaneously combine their undergraduate studies with an 8-month internship at companies collaborating with the Program. This enriches the academic content provided by the University with a first professional experience that undoubtedly enhances employability after graduation.

In addition to undergraduate training, COOPERA offers students supplementary training in professional skills and competencies, business-oriented English and communication, IT and accounting, as well as business talks, workshops, and career seminars. All designed to enhance training and facilitate access to the job market.

COOPERA Partner Companies

The companies collaborating in the Program belong to various economic sectors, allowing COOPERA participants to undertake internships in diverse professional areas: consulting, marketing, finance, accounting, or auditing, to name a few. All internships are managed through the Fundaicón Universidad-Empresa, a partner of the Program.

All companies participating in COOPERA hold a series of conferences to present their professional development opportunities and the profiles of the internship positions they offer. Internships are then assigned by the Comité de Admisiones de COOPERA, taking into account students' preferences, their admission scores, and their engagement with the additional training received.
