Training Objectives:
 
Philip Morris Spain is looking for talented people to join our business planning team. To further strengthen our department based in Madrid, we are looking for a Quantitative Strategy intern, to participate and collaborate in:

  • Develop and research machine learning algorithms and solutions for central planning processes and analysis.
  • Build, deploy, and support quantitative business models by leveraging a wide variety of mathematical and computational methods, including time series analysis, principal component analysis, clustering, and more.
  • Acquire and update knowledge on everything related to the tobacco industry (competition, taxation, distribution, etc.) and integrate this knowledge into the global analysis of the business.
  • Support the Commercial Planning Manager in ad-hoc reports, modeling and analysis of the tobacco market, both for internal use and for official presentations to the PMI.
  • Reporting to the Business Planning Manager, this role will support the digitization and centralization of business data. In particular, relate the quantitative academic training of the candidate with the reality of the business world. This is a unique opportunity to develop a candidate's career by being exposed to a learning and performance driven culture in the Finance department of a Fortune 500 company.

Candidate profile:

  • Degree in financial mathematics, mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, computer science, computer science or similar quantitative area
  • Advanced English (C1 level)
  • Solid mathematical and statistical foundations.
  • Programming knowledge in at least one of the following languages: Python, R or C/C++
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms (Regression Analysis, Time Series Analysis, Principal Components Analysis, Clustering, etc.)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • A team player with an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Genuine interest in business, statistics and technology.
  • Attention to detail, precision in daily work and a willingness to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
