Area Description

The industry is experiencing a key business model transformation, adopting retail techniques (e.g., Amazon, Uber, Airbnb, etc.) with the goal of simplifying processes, reducing costs, enhancing the traveler experience, and incorporating new revenue streams while enriching personalized offerings

In this learning experience, you will gain hands-on experience in conducting strategic assessments within the Product Domains and Cross-Functional Teams. As part of the team, the apprentice will collaborate with and learn from Product Management leadership, as well as other teams within Airline Solutions

Project description

The Strategic Planning team is responsible for leading complex projects aimed at addressing critical issues, both for the existing business and for future business opportunities arising from the transformation. To achieve this, we collaborate with other teams within our business unit as well as with other Amadeus teams. Additionally, for certain initiatives, we work with external strategic partners (e.g., McKinsey, BCG…)

Among other responsibilities:
- Participate in portfolio strategy projects, such as evaluating strategies, investment priorities, etc.
- Collaborate in assessing opportunities for portfolio improvements based on overall strategic alignment, business opportunities, and risk evaluation
- Contribute to the evaluation of Build/Buy/Partner opportunities and gain insights into M&A procedures in cases of non-organic growth options
- Assist in identifying and formulating key issues that need to be assessed

Accountabilities

  • Participate in portfolio strategy projects, such as evaluating strategies, investment priorities, etc.

  • Communicate effectively in a structured manner, both verbally and in writing, including with colleagues with different perspectives and seniority levels
  • Collaborate using relevant digital productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office) and digital communication tools (e.g., email, Slack, Zoom)
  • Manage time effectively to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and all deadlines are met in a complex and largely autonomous work environment
  • Give and receive frequent mentoring and targeted feedback to ensure your own growth, achieve project/work objectives, and contribute to team effectiveness
  • Develop work product-focused materials / outputs, which may include PowerPoint decks, Excel models, articles, or other written deliverables

Requirements

  • Bilingual, highly fluent in English or with international experience requiring the daily use of English
  • Proficient in rational decision making based on data, facts, and logical reasoning
  • Attention to detail
  • Structure and organize ambiguous problems, tasks, and information, and be able to act independently
  • Comprehend content (e.g., email, articles, spreadsheets) and synthesize into a clear and communicable format (either written or verbally)
  • Ability to work in a global and multicultural environment with various multidisciplinary teams

Please note that the duration of the internship will be 6 months and may be extended for a further 6 months.
